PREDICT Publication Guidelines – reminder

All PREDICT endorsed research that is published needs to conform with our approved Guidelines so please ensure you read our guidelines (updated in February 2020) here.

Key points we wish to bring to your attention are:

  • All PREDICT publications must be reviewed by the Chair of PREDICT prior to submission to a journal.
  • Please allow approximately 2 weeks for your draft to be reviewed and email Meredith.borland@health.wa.gov.au directly.
  • Please read the “Requirements for authorship”  – which provides guidance on how to make authorship decisions when there are large groups of potential authors.
  • A new planning template and example is provided.
  • Please ensure you acknowledge the Centre for Research Excellence grant using the wording noted in the guidelines.
  • Contributors  who do not meet the criteria for authorship but who have contributed to the study should be acknowledged.
  • Please remember to acknowledge all funding groups appropriately and invite them to use a prepared media release if available/relevant.

Getting to know you – meet new member Ashes Mukherjee

Our “Getting to Know You” segment ensures PREDICT members are aware of new members, their interests and areas of expertise and where they are located.

This month we introduce Ashes Mukherjee from Armadale Hospital.

“I work at Armadale Hospital which is a semi-urban hospital that sees a full range of emergency presentations including paediatrics. As a hospital we are not supported by many subspecialties but have the luxury of having the support of Surgery, Acute Medicine, Paediatrics, O&G and ICU. We cater to a yearly presentation in ED of approximately 60,000 patients.

My research interest lies in the use of echocardiography in emergency medicine as well as the use of regional blocks in EM.”

Welcome to PREDICT Ashes.

“Getting to know you” – new member Gerben Keijzers

Our “Getting to Know You” segment ensures PREDICT members are aware of new members, their interests and areas of expertise and where they are located.

This month we introduce Dr Gerben Keijzers from Gold Coast University Hospital.

I am a Senior Staff Specialist at the Gold Coast University Hospital Emergency Department (Queensland, Australia). This is a mixed ED which sees ~120.000 patients annually of which one-third are children. I am interested in collaborative clinical research and I am an investigator for several national and state funded studies.

A current focus is on hemodynamic resuscitation in sepsis in both children and adults, as well as antimicrobial stewardship and improving appropriate care.

I am the co-chair of our ED collaborative research group http://bit.ly/gcedresearch

Welcome to PREDICT Gerben.

“Getting to know you” – new member Meg Wilson

Our “Getting to Know You” segment ensures PREDICT members are aware of new members, their interests and areas of expertise and where they are located.

This month we introduce Meg Wilson from Gold Coast University Hospital.

I am an Advanced Trainee of Emergency Medicine and a member of the Joint Paediatric Emergency Medicine program. Most recently I have worked in several hospitals in Northern NSW and SE QLD with particular focus on Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Critical Care. Currently I am working as part of the research team at Gold Coast University Hospital. I am interested in enhancing evidenced based approaches to management of paediatric airways, fluid resuscitation of both medical and trauma patients as well as prehospital/telehealth management of unwell children particularly in resource poor settings.”

Welcome to PREDICT Meg!
